Practice Nurse and Health Care Assistant Clinics

Our nurse and health care assistant offer the following services in their routine clinics - cervical smears, weight and blood pressure checks, new patient health checks, ear syringing, dressings for minor cuts and wounds, removal of stitches, health advice. If requested by a doctor, they can perform spirometry and ECGs.

Blood tests.

To help our patients, blood tests are carried out at the surgery.  Please make sure you know whether your blood test is a fasting test and how many hours you will need to fast.  For example, before a cholesterol test we ask you to stop eating food 10 hours before the test, although you can have water.

The nurse is able to offer you smoking cessation advice and prescriptions for Nicotine Replacement Therapy are now available on the NHS.

Travel and Vaccinations Clinic including Yellow Fever

Please make sure you get up to date travel advice and all the necessary vaccinations by booking an appointment with Nurse .  Ideally you should book this two months ahead of you r planned trip.  If your trip is sooner, you may still be able to get some vaccinations.  Please come in to discuss.  Malaria prophylaxis is also offered and we can advise and prescribe the recommended treatments.  Many vaccinations are free although there may be some charges e.g. for malaria treatment- check with Nurse.
